I did not meet my goal to build something every month of 2013, but I do have a few projects waiting.  I did do some shadows and candy canes this month and this will be it for this year.   Here are the pic's of the shadows.  Everyone have a great 2014 New Year.

Here is the Pencil holder built with maple mentioned earlier.  I enjoyed doing this project.  It started with green logs, to sliced boards, air dried, then planed & glued up.  Here is pictures of the front and back and the third picture is with a piece of the maple to show what this looked like prior to clear coating.

Sept 2nd, Labor Day Quick project.

Hope all are having a great day. My son seen a picture of toaster tongs and wanted one, So used some scrap maple to make these 2 tongs and wiped with mineral oil.

What happened in August, no projects? :) HA

Just not completed any projects, but I purchased Local White/Red Oak and Red Cedar, given a couple of oak logs and picked up some Maple from a friend who lost some trees. The oak and maple got cut up into boards and dried (7%). Here are a few pictures:
Maple Log - around 6 total

The 3 above have been planed and soon to be glued up and made into a pencil holder.

The 2 pictures are of a 14 inch piece of the oak logs below.

May / June Project

Here is my son's new wall desk start to finish.  I got the idea from the WoodSmith Magazine vol 34 no 201. This desk is smaller due to space. This desk is 32" instead of 51".
This project I learned about rabbet joinery and is the best drawers I have put together.
Enjoy and have a great year.  Psalm 188:24

Isn't Walnut Pretty

My 1st Mallet, built with Oak & Cherry. Rubbed with Linseed Oil.

Grabbed some scrap oak board today and re-sawed it into 1/4 inch pieces and made coasters, not fancy coaster, but based on some recommendations on wood forums I left the wood grain view-able. I protected the wood with linseed oil. This is the first for linseed oil, I like it, just rub it in. I love the look of natural wood.   Oh what fun I had playing in my own little world today.  :)
