Here is a chess board for my daughter. Built with maple, walnut with an red oak trim.  Found the plans on line, but I do not know who. Found two ways of doing this and the easiest way was to glue up the maple and walnut strips, then cross cut and flip every other one.  Perfect!  Used rub on polyurathane,

The Daughter needed a Step stool and I just happen to have gotten one from EZINE Woodworkers journal.  Made with all walnut and yes, I stepped up on it to insure it would not break.

Thanks for looking.  Merry Christmas.

2014 so far has been a busy year, Joe's wood hobby is not getting a lot attention, but I did get some planter stands built for someone. :)  Two of them built with all red oak and the other two mixed with walnut.

Adirondack chairs foot rest

Made the foot rest with the scrapes from the chairs.  As you can see they slide underneath the chair.  Design idea from Home Depot youtube video.

Thanks for looking.

I guess I should tell the whole story, so here we go, I got free printable plans for an adironack chair (s) and they were Norm Abram's plans. Did I say these were FREE meaning they were written instructions, so I got to free hand several of the cuts, I did well on the poster board and did terrible on the bandsaw.  The four chairs look a like but there are differences.
Anyway, I had a great time, the wood was purchased locally and had to be planed to 1 inch.  I learned that red cedar has brown it, who would thought? and if you look closely you will see the brown, also white. Still beautiful.
Thanks for looking.
